How to Use Accessibility Modes

Last updated: 2026-05-23 by A11y Team

Goal:

Make HomyIQ easier to read and use for family members of all ages, including children and grandparents.

You will need:

  • None — these settings can be toggled by anyone at any time

Follow these steps:

  1. 1Go to the bottom navigation bar and tap 'More' to open your settings menu.
  2. 2Scroll down to find the 'Accessibility Modes' section.
  3. 3To make text larger: Click the switch next to 'Large Text'. This increases button and label sizes so they are easier to tap.
  4. 4To make buttons stand out: Click the switch next to 'High Contrast'. This adds thicker borders and darker text so everything is highly visible.
  5. 5To simplify the screen: Click the switch next to 'Simplified View'. This hides extra small details on list rows, keeping screens calm and clean.
  6. 6To reduce movement: Click the switch next to 'Reduced Motion'. This turns off screen transitions and checks animations.
What success looks like:

HomyIQ is customized to your exact comfort level, making every tap easy and clear.

What to try next:

  • If you have older family members, try turning on Large Text together so they feel comfortable using the app.
  • Turn on High Contrast if you are using a kitchen tablet in bright daylight.
