What to Do When Notifications Aren't Arriving

Last updated: 2026-06-06 by Support Team

Goal:

Get push notifications working so you don't miss important chores, events, and reminders.

You will need:

  • You have HomyIQ installed on your phone or tablet
  • A household set up in HomyIQ

Follow these steps:

  1. 1Go to the bottom navigation and tap the grid icon to open the Home Hub. Then tap the Settings gear icon to go to your Settings.
  2. 2On the Settings page, scroll down and tap 'Notifications'.
  3. 3Look for the 'Push notifications' card near the top. If you see a toggle switch that says 'Turn on to receive reminders on this device when the app is closed', tap the toggle to turn push notifications on.
  4. 4Your phone will ask for permission to send notifications. Tap 'Allow' to grant it. If you accidentally tapped 'Don't Allow', go back to this screen and tap the toggle again.
  5. 5Below the push toggle, you will see a grid showing different notification categories like 'Task reminders', 'Calendar events', 'Lists & meals', and more. Each category has a switch under the 'Push' column. Tap to turn on the categories that matter to you.
  6. 6Scroll down to the 'Quiet hours' section. This is where you set a time window when non-urgent notifications pause (for example, 9 PM to 7 AM). Set your start and end times, then tap 'Save'.
  7. 7At the bottom, find the 'Send a test notification' card. Tap 'Send test' to check that notifications are working. You should see a test alert pop up on your device within about a minute.
What success looks like:

Push notifications are ON, at least one notification category is enabled, and you receive a test notification on your device within a minute of tapping Send test.

What to try next:

  • Assign yourself a chore and turn on 'Task reminders' to receive your first real notification.
  • Invite a family member to your household so you can practice sending each other chores and reminders.
