Your data

Delete your account

You can delete your HomyIQ account and personal data at any time. Here’s exactly how — in the app, or by request — and what happens to your data.

Last updated 9 October 2026

The short version

  • Open HomyIQ → Settings → Account → Delete account, and confirm. Your account and personal data are removed.
  • Can’t sign in? Email support@homyiq.com from your account email and we’ll delete it for you.
  • Paid plan? Cancel your subscription first — deleting your account doesn’t stop store billing.

Delete in the app

The fastest way is right inside HomyIQ — on the web app or the mobile app:

  • Open Settings — tap your profile, then go to Settings → Account.
  • Choose Delete account — you’ll be asked to confirm, since this can’t be undone.
  • Confirm — we permanently delete your account and personal data, and sign you out everywhere.

Delete some of your data, without deleting your account

You don’t have to delete your HomyIQ account to remove things you no longer want us to hold. Any member can delete their own content in the app, one item at a time:

  • Tasks, lists and list items — open the item and choose Delete from its menu.
  • Notes, photos and documents — open the note or document and choose Delete; attached photos and files are removed with it.
  • Recipes and meal plans — open the recipe and choose Delete, or clear a day on the meal plan.
  • Bills, expenses and payments — open the entry and choose Delete.
  • Connected accounts — Settings → Connections → Disconnect removes the Google Calendar, Tasks or Drive access, the tokens we stored, and the events copied in from your Google Calendar.
  • Weather location — the approximate (about 11 km) location you optionally shared for weather is kept in a cookie on your own device, is sent to our server only to fetch your forecast, and is removed when you clear the app’s or site’s data.

Deleted items disappear from your household immediately and are no longer shown to any member. Your private items, deleted or not, are permanently removed from our systems when your account is deleted. Items you shared with your household stay in its trash until the household itself is deleted — or sooner on request: email support@homyiq.com with the item and we’ll purge it within 30 days. Nothing you delete this way is kept for any other purpose.

Request deletion another way

If you can’t sign in — or you’d simply rather we handle it — email us from the address on your account and we’ll take care of it:

support@homyiq.com

Send it from the email address you use to sign in (this helps us verify the request is really yours). We’ll confirm by reply and complete the deletion within 30 days — usually much sooner.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

  • Your account — your name, email, password, and profile photo.
  • Your private content — everything you kept private and didn’t share with anyone — tasks, lists, notes, reminders, calendar events, recipes, documents and receipts, with their photos and files — including private items you had already deleted.
  • Your Google Calendar copy — the events copied in from your own Google Calendar, in every household.
  • Your connections — any connected Google account access (Calendar, Tasks, Drive) and notification tokens are revoked and removed.
  • Your household’s data — if you’re the last remaining member, the household and its shared content are deleted too.

What you shared with a household that has other members — or with one of its members — stays with them, shown as added by “Former member” instead of your name (see section 6). Nothing is deleted from your own Google account: tasks synced with Google Tasks are treated like any other task — your private ones are deleted here, and ones you shared stay with the household.

What we keep, and for how long

We remove your personal data within 30 days of a deletion request. The only exceptions are limited records we’re legally required to retain — for example, billing and tax records tied to past payments. These are kept only as long as the law requires and are not used for anything else.

If you share a household

HomyIQ households are shared spaces, so deletion respects the other members:

  • If others remain — your account and your private items are deleted. What you shared with the household — tasks, lists, events, notes, expenses, bills and their history — stays with the remaining members, shown as added by “Former member”. If you’re the household owner, email us first and we’ll move ownership to another adult member so they keep access — or remove the other members first, which deletes the shared household with your account.
  • If you leave or are removed — your account is kept. Your private items stay in that household and are yours again if you rejoin; the events copied in from your Google Calendar are removed from it. Deleting your account later removes the private items too.
  • If you’re the last member — the household and all of its shared content are deleted along with your account.

Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a paid subscription, because subscriptions are managed by the store you bought them from. To stop billing, cancel before you delete:

  • Bought on iPhone or iPad — cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your Apple device, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
  • Bought on Android — cancel in the Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Subscribed on the web — cancel from Settings → HomyIQ Premium → Manage subscription on homyiq.com, or via the link in your purchase receipt email.
